MAM Closing Party BBQ
Saturday, June 1, 7-10pm - Cultural Center Plaza at Miami Art Museum, 101 W. Flagler Street, Miami
After more than 15 years of enhancing Miami’s cultural repertoire, Miami Art Museum closed its doors at Miami-Dade Cultural Center in preparation for its move to new, state-of-the-art facility in Museum Park, but not before bidding a proper farewell with a full-blown community BBQ. Hosted on Cultural Center Plaza on the eve of the Museum’s final day, this memorable “Lights Out” party was the last public event held at Miami Art Museum’s current facility. The evening featured bites by Sparky’s Roadside BBQ, and a DJ from HOT 97.7FM. The closing party was coordinated in collaboration with the nomadic artist project the end in conjunction with New Work Miami 2013, which, along with Frames of Reference: Latin American Art from the Jorge M. Perez Collection, was on view throughout the evening. Miami Art Museum will reopen as Pérez Art Museum Miami in downtown Miami’s Museum Park in December 2013.
Thasos Greek Taverna Launches Sunday Brunch

On Father’s Day the Thasos Greek Taverna, an indoor/outdoor contemporary Greek restaurant in Fort Lauderdale launched their brand new Sunday Brunch. Thasos reminiscent of the hospitality and spirit of the Greek islands with the service and style of a modern restaurant & lounge.
Main feature of the new Sunday Brunch is ‘create your own cocktails’ for unlimited Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, and Sangria for just $15. New executive Chef of Thasos, Chef Brian Cantrell created unique innovative brunch menu items like:
Nutella French Toast (cinnamon egg batter, Nutella, strawberries, maple syrup) $12
Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict (smoked salmon, tzatziki, caper hollandaise, with rosemary potatoes and fresh fruits) $14
Several “mezedes” tapas to share ranging from $8-$18, such as Greek Spreads All (tzatziki, taramosalata, eggplant, whipped feta, green chick peas), flame-broiled shrimp Saganaki, crab fritters, fire-grilled octopus and spit-roasted lamb flat bread with tzatziki.
The Wedding Salon’s Miami Showcase at Epic Hotel

The Wedding Salon inspired brides from all over South Florida featuring over 40 vendors dishing out the latest and greatest in the wedding realm from a variety of areas such as photography, honeymoons, couture gowns, fantasy reception tables, beauty makeovers, and more. Wedding Salon CEO & Founder and celebrity wedding planner, Tatiana Byron, was onsite to revile top trends and local wedding gems. Over 500 brides-to-be gathered to discover resources for their wedding planning needs. Guests enjoyed cake tastings by Ana Paz Cakes, beauty makeovers with Dior from Neiman Marcus and local favorite Sean Donaldson Hair, fitness regimens for brides by Exhale Spa, couture gown collections, and dozens of vendors to meet with to assist with their wedding planning.

"Fish Tank Kings" Season 2 Premier Party at Whiskey Blue

Nat Geo WILD’s popular series Fish Tank Kings returns for a second season beginning Saturday, June 1, at 9 PM ET/PT, taking viewers to the center of the action as the Florida-based aquarium specialists at Living Color use their unparalleled skills, creativity and teamwork to pull off the most extreme tanks.
Among the highlights of the event was the City of Miami and Broward County’s both presenting proclamations naming June 1st as “Fish Tank Kings Day”, in commemoration of the top-rated shows’ global premier. Moreover, Fish Tank Kings was awarded the Key to Broward County. The series represents one of the only internationally distributed shows filmed primarily in South Florida.
“I am proud of Living Color’s talented team of designers, artisans, engineers and marine life experts as we continue to take viewers into the creative world of building award-winning aquariums for museums, public aquariums, theme parks, hotels and private homes, around the world,” said Mat Roy, Living Color President and Fish Tank Kings Star.
The event attracted over 200 of South Florida’s most influential entertainment and government dignitaries, including; Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, the Vice Chairman of the City of Miami Arts & Entertainment Council, Howard R. Miller and the Senior Vice President of Nat Geo WILD Program Development, Janet Han-Vissering. The event also featured a custom 300 gallon aquarium built in-house by Living Color Enterprises and Fish Tank Kings’ stars; with two beautiful mermaids included.
ING Miami Celebrity Domino Night 2013

Amigos For Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect by valuing children, strengthening families and educating communities, celebrated its trademark annual fundraiser, ING Miami Celebrity Domino Night, at Jungle Island. With over 1,800 guests in attendance, the fundraiser was another astounding success for Amigos For Kids, with ING as the event’s title sponsor.
The success of the event was largely due to the great collaboration and support from the corporate, media and restaurant sponsors. Amigos For Kids depended equally on the participation of its countless volunteers, celebrities, media, community leaders, staff, and individuals, who all gathered to support Amigos’ service to children and families through its programs and outreach services to help end the cycle of abuse.
Guests enjoyed domino gaming, dancing, local flavors and dinner-by-the-bite provided by Miami’s chefs and restaurants. A silent auction exhibited hundreds of dazzling items featuring Cuban art, sports memorabilia, fine jewelry, luxurious travel experiences, and much more. Guests enjoyed an open bar courtesy of Bacardi USA, a live performance by “The Culture”, Miami Heat’s DJ Irie, and a special midnight pizza delivery courtesy of Papa John’s. Hundreds of Miami’s movers and shakers were on hand and basked in the night’s thrilling ambiance well into the wee hours.
Echo Aventura Sales Center Grand Opening

Property Markets Group’s Echo Aventura project hosted a round table event with some of the most prominent developers in today’s market. The panelists discussed items such as the South Florida real estate market as well as what the developers have planned for the future. Speakers were Kevin Maloney, founder and principal of Property Markets Group, Gil Dezer, president of Dezer Development, Carlos Rosso, president of condominium development for the Related Group, developer Avra Jain, and Eric Trump, executive vice president of development and acquisition at the Trump Organization. Immediately following discussion was the sales center grand opening celebration.
The La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup IX
April 25 – 28, Between 20th and 22nd Streets, Miami Beach
The Polo Life, hosted the 9th annual La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup, the world’s largest and most prestigious Beach Polo competition, from April 25th to April 28th between 20th and 22nd Streets on the sands of South Beach. The four-day, globally renowned sporting event, featured top polo players from around the world competing in two tournaments for both men and women. Each year, the Miami Beach Polo World Cup is produced by the event’s founding organization, ACT Productions, based in Miami Beach, owned by President and CEO, Bruce Orosz.
The La Martina South Beach Women’s Polo Cup V took place on Thursday, April 25th featuring eight women’s teams in a one-day series of round-robin championship matches. The Cheeki team came out on top with a record winning perfect score. Cheeki’s Tiffany Busch earned MVP honors for her efforts while The James Royal Palm Hotel/Jet Blue team’s Laura Willson’s horse “Dash” was named Best Playing Pony.
The La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup IX – a three-day men’s tournament, started on Friday, April 27th through Sunday, April 29th. Six teams included some of the world’s top-ranked players, including England’s Jamie Morrison, Holland’s Vincent Mesker, past Miami Beach and Chicago Beach Polo winner, Guille Usandizaga from Argentina, Costa Rica’s Luis Escobar, 2009 MVP John Gobin and last year’s MVP, 9-goaler Kris Kampsen.
The traditional post-event awards ceremony was held at the end of each tournament to commemorate both women’s and men’s competition winners, during which sponsor representatives presented trophies to the men’s and women’s World Cup finalists. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami and Irie Foundation are the tournament’s official partnering charity organizations. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami will receive a portion of funds raised through ticket sales from the event.
As part of the daily experience at this year’s event, Aventura Mall waa the official retail partner for the design and creation of the retail village, allowing attendees to browse and purchase dozens of their favorite brands, including the latest from TAG Heuer, while taking a break from watching some of the world’s top polo players. Courtesy cocktails were provided by GREY GOOSE Vodka in the VIP tent throughout the four days.
