Miami HEAT point guard Dwyane Wade together with the Carnival Foundation and Hublot presented “A Night on the RunWade,” a fashion fundraiser to benefit Wade’s World Foundation. As part of the NBA Champion’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the South Florida community, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union co-hosted a cocktail reception, live entertainment, silent and live auctions and a fashion show, featuring looks from Neiman Marcus Coral Gables, and styled by Calyann Barnett, Dwyane Wade’s personal stylist. “I wanted to really incorporate my teammates, you see them behind me, the Miami Heat, and really get the excitement of the season and when everybody’s here,” said Dwayne Wade.
The event raised funds for the children of the Wade’s World Foundation in Miami, Chicago and Milwaukee. Wade’s sister, Tragil Wade is executive director for the foundation, and she mentioned that the focus on children in those three cities was Dwyane Wade’s decision. “He felt that ‘listen, these are the three cities that made a difference in my life. These are the three cities that I want to make a difference in,’ she said. Former Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning said Wade is helping out people who need it. “He gets it. You know, he comes from humble beginnings. He understands there are so many people out here that are a lot less fortunate,” he said. Wade’s teammates Chris Bosh, Chris Andersen, Mario Chalmers, and Josh McRoberts also attended the charity event, while Miami Heat new additions Shawne Williams, James Ennis, Andre Dawkins, and Shabazz Napier strut the runway.
