In support of the American Cancer Society, Zensekai Karate Kobudo Rengokai along with Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa, Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa, and Urgo Hotels and Resorts, hosted a Karate Kicks Cancer event. Karate Kicks Cancer is part of a two day Karate Seminar, June 5 & 6, honoring the late Sensei Jed Oyasato who lost his battle to cancer last year.
Chef Larry LaValley has been associated with Shisa Lion Dojo organization for several years. Shisa Lion Dojo is dedicated to the preservation of Okinawan Traditions and the study and practice of Life Protection Arts. Seminar is led by Tasshi Greg Lindquist, Okishikan’s head instructor – ancient art of classical Okinawan Karate, and an invaluable resource to the martial arts community at large.
Karate Kicks Cancer featured small bites by Larry LaValley, executive chef of 3800 Ocean at Marriott Singer Island, and Daniel Gerety, executive chef of McCoy’s Oceanfront at Marriott Pompano Beach, and cocktails from sponsors including Ty Ku Sake and Leblon Cachaça. The event also featured a silent auction and karate demonstration, while DJ Inaia kept the crowd on their feet. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
