8th Annual Friends of St. Jude Miami “It’s All About The Kids”Saturday, September 19, 7:30pm – JW Marriott Marquis, 255 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami

Friends of St. Jude (FOSJ) Miami, the young professionals group dedicated to raising awareness and funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, and chaired by Jeb Bush Jr., hosted the South Florida community to the eighth annual International Dermatology “It’s All About the Kids” signature event, presented by the Andrés Asion Foundation. Friends of St. Jude – Miami has one of the largest memberships and ranks among the top fundraisers of Friends of St. Jude groups nationwide.

“We are excited to host another successful event, to ensure children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases can receive the treatment and care they need,” said Jeb Bush Jr., chair of FOSJ Miami. “Thanks to our partners and South Florida’s ongoing support, Friends of St. Jude has raised more than $600,000.00 to help ensure no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for their treatment, travel, housing or food.”

The event featured a vast menu with delicious cuisine and cocktails courtesy of Diageo, as well as music by DJ Pete Diaz. This year’s hosts were Telemundo’s very own, Jorge Bernal, known as “Mr. Check it Out,” and Fusion’s Nando Vila, co-host of “The Soccer Gods.” The evening’s enticing live auction was conducted by Ashley Morrison from Miami’s local FOX 7 news station and Keith Jones from NBC 6.

St. Jude presented the “St. Jude Stephan Gutierrez Award” to Andrés Asion for his philanthropic and humanitarian efforts. “In many cases, St. Jude is the last hope for children suffering from cancer, who have previously not responded well to standard treatments. Many doctors send their toughest cases to St. Jude, as the hospital has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers,” said Andrés Asion. “St. Jude is at the forefront of developing new treatment options that are then shared freely with hospitals around the world.”
