A Rare Journey with The MacallanPosted on: August 7th, 2015 by Agustina Pais
The Macallan, the world’s ultimate luxury single malt Scotch whisky, invited single malt aficionados for a rare journey, an invite-only evening at the Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island, hosted by Jeremy Fonicello, National Brand Ambassador for The Macallan Single Malt Scotch. During the evening, guests were able to sign their names and messages into a sherry oak staves and then the engravers, coming straight from New York, burned it onto the wood. This made the Macallan experience that much more memorable, by leaving a mark that will be put together and will live at The Macallan Estate.
The Macallan Rare Cask ($300) is the newest addition to the distillery’s 1824 Masters Series. It was aged in Spanish oak casks that previously held sherry, natural color, bottled at 43% ABV. It is bold, rich, deep and thick, with conservative and restrained taste profile. On the nose, the sherry profile dominates, with raisins, plums and fruits, and just a hint of cinnamon. The palate is sweet and smooth, with a thick, chewy mouth-feel, more sherry and vanilla, and dark chocolate. Absolutely no hint of burn on the finish, leaving you with plum, fruit, slightly earthy, and a bit of oak and spice. #RareJourney #MacallanRareCask
