Contemporary art gallery Rostad Edwards Fine Art in Wynwood’s burgeoning art district is showcasing exclusive paintings from “Faraway Nearby,” the inaugural Miami solo exhibition of renowned Norwegian artist Elisabeth Werp, starting April 22nd through May 22nd.
The “Faraway Nearby” exhibition consist of 15 oil paintings which highlight Werp’s unique style of mixing classical painting techniques with contemporary art elements. Her thought-provoking works depict a world where past and present perspectives collide. Werp drew inspiration from personal experiences and art history to bring forth details in her pieces that express the meaning of life. Her works skilfully showcase her knowledge of old and new painting techniques. Faraway Nearby’s dreamlike imagery entwined with intricate mystery, dark and light undertones, symbolic realism and human life elements create a familiar world of emotions and unique visual experience for viewers.
Elisabeth Werp was educated at the Art and Design School and the National Art Academy in Oslo, Norway. She had her first exhibition at UNK (Gallery of young Norwegian Artists) in Oslo in 1991 and has since exhibited throughout Europe, becoming one of Norway’s most acclaimed and loved artists of all time.
