Pouring for a Cause: An Evening Benefiting Victims of Hurricane IrmaThursday, September 21, 7pm-10pm – The Rusty Pelican, 3201 Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne

The Rusty Pelican will be hosting a benefit, Pouring for a Cause, to raise funds for those people impacted by Hurricane Irma. Guests will be treated to cocktails created specifically for the event by some of South Florida’s best bartenders, including Rusty Pelican’s own resident mixologist Oscar Amaya. The evening will include over fifteen different drink stations supported by beverage brands distributed in Florida by Breakthru Beverage including Soul Premium Cachaça, Stoli THE Vodka, Galliano L’Autentico, Lucas Bols, Hendrick’s Gin, Papa Pilar Rum, SuerteTequila, Red Bull Energy Drinks, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, VOSS Water, Flora de Cana Rum, Old Forester Collection, Herradura Tequila, Michter’s Whiskeys, Gallo Wines, and others. Appetizers and event space has been generously donated by the Rusty Pelican. Guests will also have the opportunity to participant in a silent auction and raffles for a chance to win a variety of items including customized gift baskets designed by Stacie Weisman. All proceeds directly benefit the USBG National Charity Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund. This fund has been developed through their Bartender Emergency Assistance Program to assist hospitality individuals and their families after catastrophic events, such as Hurricane Irma. Advance tickets are $35 and $50 at the door (includes beverages and appetizers).

La muestra comisariada por los artistas cubanos Yeny Casanueva y Alejandro González es una videoinstalación que conecta a un selecto grupo de artistas visuales y pretende funcionar como una amalgama conceptual a la vez que muestra el campo de arte contemporáneo como un sistema estructural donde confluyen e interactúan procesos y colectivos muy diferentes, condicionando la producción y circulación de las obras, así como la generación de significados y lecturas plurales de las mismas.

El proyecto se debate entre dos aristas conceptuales divergentes, por un lado destacar cómo la práctica curatorial, entendida como gesto mediador dentro de los procesos estéticos, hace converger heterogeneidad y similitudes implícitas en los discursos y prácticas del arte actual, y por otro señalar las obras en su particularidad, definidas por los propósitos de sus relaciones contextuales. La entrada es gratuita. La exposición estará abierta al público hasta el 22 de octubre de lunes a viernes.
