Spread Your Wings: iFLY Brings Indoor Skydiving to South Florida

Spread Your Wings: iFLY Brings Indoor Skydiving to South FloridaMonday, February 27, 10am-10pm – iFLY Fort Lauderdale, 11690 West State Road 84, Davie

iFLY, the world’s largest indoor skydiving operation, is now in Fort Lauderdale (Davie). iFLY, uFLY, weFLY, this setup is geared for just about everyone. Children can be as young as three and there are packages for beginners to advanced users.

Using a vertical wind tunnel, high winds allow a body to float on air. iFLY certified flight instructors help newbies master subtle movements that dictate how their body behaves in the wind tunnel. With their guidance, customers learn to fly, control their bodies in the air and experience human flight.

The experience of flight isn’t too costly, but it does not come cheap. Each flight lasts sixty seconds and the total flight length depends on the package you purchase. For example, a first-time package for a single person is $69.95 for two flights (60 seconds each). To get the most out of your experience, be prepared and informed before going to iFLY.

Before your Flight
• Choose your package on the website
• Make a reservation
• Fill out the waiver forms online
• Arrive an hour prior to your flight
• Pay attention to the signals reviewed in the instructional video
• Put on the gear – flight suit, helmet, googles
• Wait to fly

During your Flight
• Pay attention to the signals
• Keep your chin up
• Don’t showboat
• Have fun!

After your Flight
• Exit the chamber
• Return all your gear
• Receive your flight certificate
• Sign-up for special pricing packages
• Share your experience on social media
• View the images iFLY sends you

Those flying for the first time can expect to spend about 90 minutes at the facility. Returning guests can are not required to arrive as early.

Is it for kids? Most kids love it! When a child is lifted of the ground and sent soaring into high flights, he/she is usually brimming with exhilaration and can’t wait to do it again and tell friends. Imagine experiencing human flight as a child. In fact, it is unique place to host a birthday party and the ideal place for educational S.T.E.A.M. field trips. The staff is amazing with kids and there are plenty of instructors to make sure everyone is safe.

Is it scary? The concept seems a little scary, but then you gaze up the wind tunnel…and it is a little scarier. Don’t fear though, safeguards are in effect and the instructor won’t let you drift away. You don’t have to be fearless, but trust that you are in a safe environment.

Is it fun? Well, you are flying, which is very exciting. Paying attention and properly responding to hand signals will help you gain control and have more fun during the flight.

Is it addictive? Like tattoos and salty snacks, this sport is addictive. During each visit, you can reach progressive new levels and experience different flights. It is the closest thing to jumping out of a plane.

There are some limitations as to who can participate. Because of the immense pressure, those who have had a dislocated shoulder should not attempt this. Also, the weight limit is 300 lbs and those weighing over 260 lbs are asked to make the instructor aware of this, so adjustments can be made. But generally, it is for everyone from those training to skydive to those who just want to experience the sensation of floating in the air.

The entire staff at iFLY in Davie is very accommodating. If you have questions, comments, concerns or special requests, give them a call. If you ever wanted to fly, but you were deterred by gravity and common sense, now is your chance to simulate flight in a safe surrounding. #iFLY @iflyus
