The Miami-Dade Democratic Party hosted the 2017 Miami-Dade Dems Blue Gala: Sea of Change, at the brand new Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. The evening kicked off with VIP cocktail reception hosted by Miami City Commissioner Ken Russell. David Suarez, the lead facilitator and coach for Interactive Training Solutions, LLC, served as evening MC.

Blue Gala recognized several Democratic leaders for their contributions to the Party:
– Lifetime Leadership Award: Mitchell Berger
– Party Leader Award: Joseph L Falk
– Breaking Barriers Award: Daisy Baez
– Legislative Champion Award: Kionne McGhee
– Rising Star Award: Ron Bilbao

Keynote address was delivered by Congressman Tim Ryan. The evening continued with an open-bar After Party sponsored by Miami Club Rum, Huey’s Handmade Vodka, and Southern Wine & Spirits.

This event supports the operations of the two Ronald McDonald Houses, which serve over 500 pediatric families annually in their time of need. Community joined NWS in SoundScape Park for a #Project305 celebration culminating the world premiere of “Miami in Movements,” a crowd-sourced symphonic work and accompanying video created by Miamians. The evening also featured performances by local artists Picadillo, The Barry Bucaneiros and a special gospel choir with vocalists from three local choirs, under the direction of Dr. Nelson Hall. The celebration kicked off with an interactive virtual reality exhibit through various South Florida neighborhoods, free tours of the New World Center, pre-concert chats with the #Project305 artistic team and additional live performances by local artists SoundScape Park before the concert. #Project305 #WALLCAST @nwsymphony

Downtown Doral Hosts Kiddo-Ween

Downtown Doral, Miami’s premier town center located in Doral, and Kiddos Magazine are joining forces for Kiddo-Ween at Downtown Doral, a Kiddos Magazine event. The free, family-friendly Halloween-inspired event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21st from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Shops at Downtown Doral. Kiddo-Ween at Downtown Doral commemorates a year since the grand opening of The Shops at Downtown Doral. The block party will feature trick-or-treating along Downtown Doral’s Main Street and at each of the retailers in The Shops at Downtown Doral, character appearances from super heroes and princesses, a scavenger hunt, a scary faces photo booth, and snacks such as popcorn and cotton candy.

As part of the celebration, kids will also be able to enjoy a fun zone that will have face painting, balloon artists, bounce houses, character appearances, giveaways and much more! Additionally, visitors to Downtown Doral will be able to explore the variety of trendy eateries, boutiques, and conveniences available in The Shops at Downtown Doral. From sports accessories at Skyros Sports and tapas at Bulla Gastrobar, to croquetas at Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine and artisanal gelato at Freddo or coffee at Pasion del Cielo, visitors will be able to indulge in a little bit of everything while enjoying safe, Halloween fun. The event is free and open to the public with free parking within the Downtown Doral community. No adults in masks and no scary costumes.
